Description

This session will provide a historical overview of demographic trends and health profiles of the U.S. Latinx population and a description of emerging Latinx communities (ELC). We will zoom in to focus on results from our community-engaged research and local assessments of Latinx in Allegheny County, an ELC. We will review social determinants of health and health challenges, exacerbated within ELCs. Finally, we will end with a discussion of opportunities to address inequities and promote health equity in ELCs and a call to action to involve not only the community’s needs, but to partner with community groups and organizations in any research endeavor.
